    The Big Koko Show!

Words cannot express how happy we still are, even 2 days after our last show. Thanks to every single person who came to Koko on Thursday night. The guests we had on stage were amazing and the audience were wonderful! Thankyou for sharing the music, dancing, singing and fun with us!

Some more words of thanks to Katie Antoniou and all the Gabberdashery stall holders for coming along and showing off their talents. Also to all the backstage crew – sound, lights, hospitality, runners and rigger. The whole night ran so smoothly so thanks for making sure that happened!!

Huge thanks to Darkest Star and Inbar Spector for designing my stage wear and to Jen & Mica for hair & makeup.

Last but not least thanks to Clem for believing in us and to all the fans who came to the show and made it such a special night.

To be honest it’s a miracle I could sing at all considering how ill I was all week. And I have to again express my apologies for cancelling the Swindon show. We will be back there on 11th February with more new songs and can’t wait for it.

I’m also thrilled to announce that our next London date will be November 19th in the Royal Festival Hall when we’ll be supporting the amazing Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra

The lovely people at Fashot TV were with us last week and filmed all the behind the scenes prep for our Koko Show. So if you want to see how we got ready there are two videos to view online now: Shopping for Costumes and On The Day

    One Week To Go!

    Hello friends!

We are so excited about next week’s big show!! We’ve pulled together an amazing bunch of performers to share the stage with us including a gospel choir, samba band & circus performers. And the very wonderful Marcella Puppini & Pat Dam Smith will also be performing.

In addition to the music and merriment we’re please to announce that we’re setting up the Gabberdashery for one night only in Koko. There will be all kinds of glorious goodies on offer including cupcakes, hair pieces, jewellery and hair accessories. Check out some of the stall owners:

Tickets for the show are still available online direct from Koko. And don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!!

    London Fashion Week

I’m having an amazing time at London Fashion Week.  I’ve been lucky, as my friends at Vauxhall Fashion Scout have been sitting me front row for some great shows!

Me and my stylist Kate Antoniou.

My favourite show was Inbar Spector who I have been wearing for a while now and it blew us all away, along with Ziad Ghanem’s theatrical runway show.  I also loved Jasper Garvida’s show and was really excited to meet him and his team at an exclusive aftershow party!

    Inbar Spector‘s mindblowing show

    Zaid Ghanem

I got to sing live on fashion TV which was cool and I’m really enjoying bumping into old friends as well as meeting new ones.

It’s all left me feeling rather inspired! I’ve saw a lot of stuff I would like to wear at shows and I’m picking up a few ideas for the next tour, particularly KOKO.  Hope everyone’s got their tickets!  I’m really looking forward to it.

    Lost & Found

We’ve maybe been having a little bit too much fun on tour, because Gabby lost her voice in DC! But thank goodness she found it just in time to meet Tara Wheeler, ex-beauty queen and the lovely host of CBS19 in Charlottesville. After a great performance & chat we headed to Tea Bizarre where we had the best Thai Milkshake ever! (top-tip for fans)

Beneath the venue we found the most amazing vintage store, we have to give a massive shout-out to everyone at Ike’s Underground. We all got kitted out, including a cheerleader & clown outfits and a dress previously owned by Devon Sproule!!

One of our highlights this week was going into WNRN and doing a session with the lovely James Albert. You can listen again here. We’ve also been practicing our frisbee tossing skills in Walmart carparks, but enough of that silliness!

Now we’re on our way to Richmond, with the journey sound-tracked by Revere. Our favourite song of the moment is ‘What Am I If I’m Not Even Dust’ go check it out on their MySpace page now!

    Tour Update Y’all!!

    Howdy folks!

We’ve really been throwing ourselves into Wisconsin living this week. Clay pigeon shooting, playing songs on a riverboat, practicing in a real garage and driving around in an RV.

We went shopping in the lovely town of Madison and fell in love with a great store called Ragstock.

All the animals have to give a MASSIVE SHOUT-OUT to two amazing people: Our super-fan Morgan who came all the way from Washington State to see us in Milwaukee and local legend Mike Buerger who has been accompanying us onstage on trumpet.

We had a great time hanging out in Radio Milwaukee where we revealed the name of new album!! If you missed it you can listen again online by clicking the pic below:

Kicking off the US tour in style

Our journey to the US was not without it’s ups and downs, that’s for sure! Even after obtaining 2 passports we were still detained at US customs which was very scary, but thankfully they let us go without too much hassle. Not quite sure why they picked on us, I think they have a fear of red-haired ladies ;)

But even though the band made it into the country safely our guitars didn’t! They got stranded in San Francisco but thankfully made it in time for our first show in LA. Phew!

Now that things have settled down a bit we’re really enjoying the sun and city. Having a great time with our fabulous host, folk legend Al Stewart. He’s been entertaining us with stories about Keith Moon and Led Zeppelin and generally showing us the sights of Hollywood. We’re getting loads of great pics which I’ll upload asap for you.

Hope some of you will make it out to our US live shows, hope to see some of the US animals at:

25 August        San Francisco, Amoeba In-Store

1 September            Minneaplois, 7th St. Entry

2 September           Milwaukee, Shank Hall, Milwaukee

3 September           Columbus, Spoonful Records In-Store

    4 September           Washington DC, Bossa

    6 September     Charlottesville, Tea Bazaar

7 September           Richmond, The Camel – Richmond

    US dates coming up…….

posted by animals in Uncategorized and have No Comments

    A quick update….

This week has been a busy one! Wowee! We’ve had some problems getting our US visas sorted for the next tour, but thankfully we are all now cleared and authorised to enter into the country. The outcome was that 3 of the band now have 2 passports! Which is very James Bond indeed!!

But before we go on tour, we need to go shop of course! We want to give a huge shoutout to our friends at Juno Says Hello and Beyond Retro for supplying us with some amazing stage costumes, and Tabio for giving us some very cool tights. We’ll take lots of photos of the clothes on stage – watch this space!

Also this week we took a little walk around Hamstead Heath with the lovely people from World Sessions and filmed a promo video for our upcoming European Tour. We’re really looking forward to getting back to the Netherlands in November, all the tour dates are online here: http://www.worldsessions.nl/index.php?p=artiesten&artiest=gabby
